i finished reading down with love by 'barbara novak' last night. it pissed me off. the book is actually based on the screen play for the movie, not the other way around. so while normally a movie is a poor substitute for a book, this book is a very poor substitute for the movie. not only does 'she' barely attempt to add anything of interest, it is also lacking in some good description of parts of the movie.#

to further this mess, the books makes a continual attempt to explain things that were funny in the movie because they weren't example. essentially they're trying to write out things things that was only apparent because of the ways the actors were acting while doing it. and the dirt on the cake is how there's a continual tackiness attached to describing scenes where the main characters (barbara and catcher) were not present by saying that at some later point their 'diary' was read or the story was related. ugh.#

overall it was a bad book that sold because it was attached to a good name and tried to hide the fact that it didn't exist before the movie. (it even says "Soon to be a Major Motion Picture" on the cover.)#

now i move on to the divine comedy: part 1: hell, woot#
