Hinduism: A Very Short Introduction, by Kim Knott, was an interesting book, but I am don't know enough about Hinduism to validate its status as a general introduction.#

I did, however, get the feeling that it was designed to defend the idea of Hinduism to someone who would otherwise be inclined to be against it, i.e. focusing on defending certain practices or describing how they are uncommon.#

I would have more enjoyed a book more about its particular philosophical virtues, rather than the single short chapter on the nature of ultimate reality.#
