here's a neat article via asterisk* via digital web. my favourite part is down near the bottom, it really sums up the message of the article and a piece of widely useful wisdom: "The reason that so many great discoveries have been accidents is because when you set out with a destination in mind then end up someplace else you feel you\u2019ve missed the mark and gotten lost."#

don park thinks Echo is a good thing, but doesn't think it will really succeed because RSS is more than an XML format. Furthermore, Don only blogs because he's selfish, and that's good because he's not making a show, but maybe Halley wouldn't approve because he's not dying. Hmm?#

why to use RDF instead of XML from ltu (with some thought from industrie toulouse) , i think that you could spent your whole day talking and thinking about XML and new XML standards. the question is, would it be a good thing?#

tony pierce has some intriguing thoughts on what's wrong with playboy and offers some great advice to us makeout citizens: "but [you're] not gonna run around and kiss her and her cousin all summer and think [you're] gonna get away with that." repercussions are rough, but morals are worse.#

tony liked charlie's angels 2 a bunch. i did too, but i didn't reflect on the amount of romance that should be in action movies nor on how i'm a dick to girl's i like, even though i am. a huge dick, why am i such a jerk? sometimes i tell girls, as a joke, that it's because i was hurt as a youngin' by a woman and now want to take it out on all other girls emotionally but it's not really true. i just have no feelings - or that's what i tell the other girls i'm joking with. i don't really know me so i don't really know why, but it's true.#

i think i'd go to tony's funeral.#

'The final PS is a reference to my mother's one-time comment that Bill Gates sounded like someone you'd invite over to dinner, only to have him say "I think I'll have all the mashed potatoes."' - from a reply to an email to Tim O'Reilly.#

i learned about Mitochondrial Eve back in school and while playing Parasite Eve a few years ago, but she was brought to my attention to day at the Critical Section twice. She's pretty cool, stuff like that is interesting... genetics and what not.#

there's an article on kuro5hin about a harsh "re-education camp" as discussed in this series at the guardian. there's a comment on the kuro5hin article that says a kid was "kidnapped and transported to some kind of gulag in Montana. There he got to hike for miles in the baking sun without water, and was forced to do manual labor, and verbally abused by the people that ran the hell-hole." my brother went to this place too (the one in montana), it was pretty shitty, and almost the same as the one in jamaica... we visited him a few times and it was sad. too personal warning :)#

michael mccracken got back to me on how tim sherwood made his mosaic. he used this neat generator that anyone can use. coolness.#

chrystal isn't sure who she is, not like any of us youngsters are. i'm always curious about people who at one time will say that they don't want to do something because it "isn't them" and then at another time will say that they "don't know who they are" (not that chrystal is this type of thinker.)#
